After a whirlwind end to 2015 and an extremely busy start to 2016, which included planning and executing my little (not so little anymore) brother’s wedding, and moving back to the southern half of the world with 2 young children, I have finally been able to gather my thoughts and pay a little attention to my 3rd baby – my blog.
I was so honoured to find out that The Tilba Tree had been nominated for a Liebster award when I finally checked back in. If there is one thing I have learned about starting a blog, it is that the Blogosphere is a wonderfully supportive and encouraging place. Most bloggers will truly help and support their blogging comrades, whether it be with a new contact, forwarding on an event invite or sharing tips, tricks and ideas. The support from the majority of bloggers I have met in this crazy place is overwhelming and I really feel like a valued member of a wonderfully vibrant community. The Blogosphere is certainly a great place to meet likeminded, happy and creative people, that are similar to myself, and whom I would have never met otherwise.
So without further ado, I wish to thank the beautiful, talented and inspiring Jordyn who’s baby is Baby Time Cafe, for taking the time to nominate me. Baby Time Cafe is a wonderfully sweet and quirky blog that combines my two favourite things – babies and food! With a couple of constantly hungry and growing children of my own, I have been looking to Jordyn’s recipes for both salvation and inspiration.
Jordyn asked me some questions when she nominated The Tilba Tree – here are my answers:
What encouraged you to start your blog? So I had been meaning to start a blog a good few years ago, and the main reason then, was to cultivate and learn more about my interest in spices & their benefits. The Tilba Tree was born after having been a mum for almost 4 years as I naturally found my interests starting to change and adapt with where I was at in life. A wholesome lifestyle and eating real food has become a keen focus of mine as my family grows.
Name one achievable goal for your blog in 2016. I have started and hope to complete my first ever e-book this year!
What is one thing you’ve always wanted to do? I have always wanted to live in Japan to keep up with my love of the Japanese language and to hopefully become fluent one day.
What is your favorite song or album? Gosh brain freeze…admittedly, I have listened to ‘Wheels on the bus’ and ‘Twinkle Star’ more than any other songs in my life at this point, but I will also admit to being the most ‘nutty’ about Craig David’s first released album back when I was 16…I’m pretty sure it was called ‘Born to Do it’, and when you’re that die hard of a fan, you love EVERY song on The. Entire. Album.
Describe the worst meal you’ve ever cooked. Definitely my first curry. Being born with South East Asian blood does not automatically guarantee you will have the culinary skills in the kitchen, apparently. It started all wrong when I burnt the onions to the bottom of the pot and the rest went downhill from there.
If you were a color, what color would you be? Salmon pink…I think
How would you describe your personal style? At the moment, the best description I have for you is ‘Stay at home Mum, trying to get through the hot summer months’…so what ever style you would imagine to go with that 😉
Coffee, Tea or neither. I’m one of the very few who will say ‘neither’ to this question. In fact, I would prefer a cold drink to hot any day.
Which area of the world would you most like to visit? I would love to travel through South Western Europe and North Western Africa just to experience and learn the authentic cuisine.
Share a link to one of your favorite blog posts. It would have to be Tips for Survival during the Wet Noodle phase.
Here are my 10 nominations in no particular order. Most are newbies to the Blogosphere with a few veterans, but they are all excellent, informative and fun in their own way and they are here because I enjoy them very much.
Crunchy & Creamy Mama, Sparkly Shoes & Sweat Drops, Hey Little Sweet Thing, Jules & Co, Tiggy Poes & Flutterbys, Our Living World, Mommy wants Coffee, Mrs & Momma, Story of Cooks, Pragma Mamma
